St Cross Street, London EC1
Over a three-year period, this 1950s office block in Hatton Garden was transformed into 2000 m2 of flexible commercial space. All areas of the building were all creatively refurbished to a high standard.
The final phase of the works saw the complete remodeling of the reception and entrance lobby. The St. Cross Street elevation was dramatically opened up with glass to allow light to flood the reception area. Access from street to reception level was via a glass door and birch plywood steps. Fine detailing characterized the design with zinc coated mild steel plates that wrapped around two elevations while finishing flush with the glass. A lime green powder coated reception desk, visible from the street, made a strong impact on arrival.
Architects: Eldridge Smerin, London.
Alex Cochrane was Project Architect throughout design and construction.
