Spring Garden & Coverly Point Estate, London SE11

An urban design project based in Vauxhall on two different sites. One is the open Spring Gardens, the other, the enclosed spaces of the Coverly Point estate.
Two themes carry this project. One is a proposal of local devolution and the other is a new spatial structure for Spring Gardens.
Form was derived from the abstraction and manipulation of recorded exchanges of those who have ‘ownership’ of the garden. The social and spatial observations made by residents of the Coverly Point Estate provided the basis for programme structuring on the two below ground levels of Spring Gardens. The design for the top level, a synthetic landscape, evolved from to the local ground conditions and immediate surroundings of the garden.
