Garden Apartment, Bray, Ireland
The main goals were to open up the lower ground floor utility area to natural light, reduce the physical restraints separating the interior from the exterior and to create a series of flexible spaces that would function as an apartment.
The main living area benefits from the two large windows offering a direct view of the woodlands. In the bedroom, the window openings are enlarged to accommodate full height glass doors that open onto a landscaped courtyard. A further glazed opening lets natural light into the bathroom.
Discreet fittings, fine detailing and a volumetric approach to light and shade characterise the design.
Currently under construction with a Dublin based architectural firm. While the exterior is generally realised in accordance with the original scheme, significant modifications have been made to the interiors.
