Beirut House, Lebanon
A proposal for a large, new build house in the heart of Beirut’s Achrafieh district.
The site, currently a car park, is adjacent to two apartment buildings, a communal garden and a side road off the popular Rue Gemmayzeh.
The design attempts to re-interpret middle eastern typographies while addressing a series of specific requirements and site factors including volume, privacy, light, cooling, access and below ground parking.
The house strategically ‘opens up’ to encompass the unique surroundings while atria at ground level allow for light to penetrate the lower ground floor.
